UNLV Lands Big Time Juco

Charlie Spoonhour and the Runnin' Rebels landed another commitment. This time, they landed themselves a talented low-block scorer who is one of the best junior college players in the country.

JK Edwards To UNLV

The No. 1 junior college team in the nation is anchored down low by C/PF Juan "J.K." Edwards. Next year, Edwards will anchor the frontline at UNLV.

The former Clemmons, N.C., standout had been receiving interest from Tennessee, Oklahoma and Wisconsin. However, UNLV was his only official visit. Credit UNLV's third assistant, Dean Martin, with doing a tremendous job of working Edwards from the home office.

Coming out of high school, Edwards was a solid prospect, but not anywhere close to the player experts say he is now. Currently, he ranks as one of the finest junior college prospects in the country. Future Stars lists him as the No. 2 power forward prospect in the junior college ranks. He's been listed as high as the best juco center in the nation by a few publications. Obviously, this is a big-time commitment for the Rebels.

He joins power forward James Peters and transfer point guard Demetrius Hunter in the current UNLV recruiting class.
