Hill Has Options

Lawrence Hill, a 6-8 junior forward from Arizona, has had several high major programs in to see him this season...

We spoke with Lawrence Hill, 6-8 JR PF Glendale (Ariz.) Deer Valley, last night and asked how he was doing.

"I'm ok, except I came down with pnuemonia on Sunday," said Hill. "I had a headache, couldn't breathe, so I went to the emergency room and they gave me a prescription."

Hill's illness comes at a bad time, as Deer Valley is set to take on a talented Trevor Browne squad tonight. "I'm hoping I get better and I can play," said Hill. "I'm starting to feel a little better now."

We asked Hill about the schools that have been out to see him this year. "Stanford has been out a lot -- Coach Fuller," said Hill. "Josh Pastner from Arizona, Coach Archibald from Iowa State, Coach Evans from ASU -- he's been to a practice and his assistants have been at several games. Oregon State came to the game Friday."

We asked Hill if those were the main schools showing interest and he replied, "so far, yeah. Outside of the west, I've also been hearing from Illinois, Texas and Kansas."

Hill said he's nowhere close to making a decision. "I just want to focus on ending the season well," said Hill. "Then, after the summer, I'll have time to sit down and make a decision."

Hill has received an application for Stanford and he's started working on it. "I need to get it in before the end of May, I think," said Hill.

For the season, Hill is averaging 18 points and 12-13 rebounds a game.

Hill took the SAT on Saturday and he's waiting on the results.
