Habel Picks ACC Program

Jerome Habel, a power forward out of Marriott Charter is off the board. The senior standout is headed to the ACC.

It's probably no coincidence that the time Florida State head coach Leonard Hamilton spent in Washington as the Wizards head coach is helping in recruiting this year. First Hamilton landed Baltimore-area native Isaiah Swann and now he's got another Metro-area native committed.

Jerome Habel, a 6-9, 200 pound power forward out of Marriott Charter in D.C., picked the Seminoles after officially visiting their campus this past weekend.

"The basketball team and the players how they gel together, they have a lot of fun and play serious," Habel said. "It's like a family. With the players coming back and the players coming in next year, it's going to be a great team. We'll shock a lot of teams next year.

"When I went to the visit, I never thought a team could be that nice to a recruit. They took me in like I was one of their family."

Habel, ranked No. 80 in our pre-season Top 100, has plenty of things in his game that are appealing. He's extremely long and a natural shot blocker. He has tremendous rebounding instincts.

Habel said that he also looked at USC and Cincinnati. "This was my first visit and I don't think there is anything else out there for me."
