Wildcats Host Prospect Party

Jay Wright and his staff at Villanova hosted a recruiting party last weekend on the Main Line. Two prospects were on official visits and a number of underclassmen dropped by for Midnight Mania.

‘Nova Hosts Prospect Party

It hasn't taken Jay Wright long to get re-acclimated with Villanova. This time, Wright's the big dog and head coach of the Wildcats and Villanova's current 2002 recruiting class is looking pretty good.

We expect the Wildcats to receive a public commitment from New Jersey guard Randy Foye by the end of the week. Amityville, N.Y., center Jason Fraser is also high on the Wildcats and they are fighting St. John's, North Carolina and Louisville for his signature.

Enough with the scenarios, here's how Wright and his staff spent last weekend.

Villanova hosted Midnight Mania on Friday night. In town for their visits were Foye (unofficial) and Fraser (official), but they were not alone.

Three prominent members of the Tim Thomas Playaz made unofficial visits on Friday. Junior big man Darryl Watkins, a prime Villanova target, was on hand. So were AAU teammates Artie Bowers and Marquis Webb. Both Webb and Bowers are underclassmen and good ones who can expect to be recruited by Villanova next season.

On Saturday, Villanova commits Allen Ray and Curtis Sumpter made unofficial trips to campus.

The Wildcats had a "Legends of Villanova" dinner on Saturday where 30 of the best players and administrators to don the Wildcats uniform were honored. Among those in attendance were Ed Pickney, Michael Bradley, Harold Pressley, Harold Jensen, Rollie Massimino, Mike Fratello, Kerry Kittle, Chris Ford and Keith Herron.
