Hassan Adams, the #1 ranked shooting guard in the west, has committed to Arizona, according to several sources. Adams chose the Wildcats over UCLA, Cal and Kansas.
We spoke with Westchester assistant coach Marlon Morton this morning and asked about Adams' reasons for choosing Arizona. Morton said, "It was two things. The chance to go away from home, be his own man and grow up, and the history of guards at Arizona."
As for the other finalists in the recruitment, Morton said, "With UCLA, Hassan liked both Coach Lavin and Madkins. And he wanted to play in front of his friends, but thought that it might also be a distraction and he wouldn't be able to focus on what he needed to do."
Morton went on to say, "At Cal, he liked Coach Braun and Wheeler. They were on him the longest, but he couldn't see himself playing there. And Kansas, while he had a good in-home visit with Coach Williams, they were late getting on him. Actually, all the schools were late on him except for Cal."
