Darrin Mahoney, 6-7 JR PF Heber City (Utah) Wasatch, has a good, strong frame and he moves well. He does most of his damage in the paint and he's a solid rebounder. He will likely be recruited at the high major level.

We spoke with Mahoney recently and asked about the schools that are appealing to him at this point.

"BYU, Utah, Utah State, Stanford...those of are some of them," said Mahoney.

We asked if any schools stand out from the pack and Mahoney replied, "probably BYU and Utah -- those would be my top two. They've always been my favorites growing up."

Mahoney discussed some of the issues he'll consider when making his choice. "Who the coach is, how much I like the coach," said Mahoney. "The other players that are there -- like at BYU, I know some of the guys -- I played with Chris Miles.

Mahoney said playing time won't be a major factor. "It would be nice to get some time," said Mahoney. "But it's not the biggest thing."

We asked Mahoney if he had given much thought to the timing of his decision and he replied, "I haven't thought about it much at all yet."

Mahoney told us that he has a 3.8 GPA and scored 25 on the ACT.
