Berkshire Wins Fall Fest

Homestead (FL) Berkshire captured the title of the inaugural Fall Fest in Raleigh. Rolando DeLaBarrera's club knocked off Bonner Academy to win the title.

Young Named MVP

After Thursday evening's game, Berkshire looked like the clear favorite to win the first ever Fall Fest title. On Saturday, they delivered on the championship.

Berkshire bested Raleigh (NC) Bonner Academy in the championship game. "We beat them by 8 or 9 points," DeLaBarrera said. "It was a pretty good game because it didn't break anywhere and was always a game. For this time of the year it was a real good one. I was very impressed by their team. They would have been frightening with [John] Winchester and Eric Davis." Winchester and Davis transferred to Milford Academy early last week.

Berkshire center Kevin Young, a Missouri commitment, was named the MVP of the event.

In the semifinal featuring Berkshire and Laurinburg, an old-fashioned stall technique was used by Laurinburg. They went pulled the ball out to half court for almost the entire second period. They trailed by three at the time but wound up giving up a big third quarter rally to Berkshire and got beat.
