2005 Focus: Jake Linton

Jake Linton, a tough, quick point guard from Washington first caught our eye last summer at the West Coast All-Star camp. We spoke with him yesterday...

Jake Linton, 5-9 JR PG Lynnwood (Wash.) Meadowdale, has good strength and quickness, with excellent range on his shot. He sees the court very well and is adept at finding teammates off dribble penetration. Right now, we could see him being recruited at the low to mid major level.

We spoke with Linton yesterday at the Washington 3-A state tournament and asked him about the schools he's heard from to date.

"Gonzaga, Stanford, San Diego, Pepperdine, Colorado State, Navy, Seattle U. -- those are some of them," said Linton.

Linton told us that playing time wil be a factor. "It's not the biggest thing, but I do want to play. Education will be important as well," said Linton.

Playing at a big-time school is a priority for Linton. "I definitely want to go to a top school," Linton said. "I wouldn't mind if there was someone I played behind and I could learn from."

Linton told us that North Carolina was his favorite school. "Because of Michael Jordan," said Linton.

We asked if he anticipated an early decision and Linton replied, "Yes, I'd like to get it out of the way, if possible."

Linton told us that he has a 3.2 GPA and he hasn't yet taken the SAT.
