We ran into Martell Webster, 6-7 JR SF Seattle (Wash.) Seattle Prep, Friday night at the Snohomish game at Jackson High School in Washington.

Webster, who was at the game to cheer for Friends of Hoop teammate Jon Brockman, was on crutches and had his foot wrapped. Webster recently had surgery after suffering an ankle injury a few weeks ago. We asked Webster how long he would be out and he said, "I'll probably be back in time for the April events. If not, definitely in time for July."

Webster said one team stands out at this time in his recruitment. "Arizona is still my first choice, but I'm open. I was supposed to go there on a trip this weekend, but then I got hurt."

When we questioned him about other schools that he thought he might want to visit, Webster said, "UCLA, Stanford, Kansas...maybe North Carolina and Duke."

Webster said he's not close to making a decision. "I'll definitely wait until after July -- I want to take some trips in August," Webster said.

Webster listed a few of the factors he'll consider when choosing a school. "The education and basketball program," said Webster. "Also the style of play."

We asked him about early playing time and Webster replied, "early playing time isn't important -- I'll have to earn my time in practice anyway."
