Metcalfe Focusing On Choice

Alan Metcalfe, a 6-9 native of England, is one of the bigger available players in the senior class. Metcalfe talks about his schools and what he's looking for in a program.

Notre Dame Academy captured the Virginia Independent Schools state championship last weekend. One of the unsigned seniors from the team is 6-9 center Alan Metcalfe.

According to Metcalfe, Clemson, American, William & Mary, Marshall, Central Florida, Rutgers, Davidson and Vanderbilt are in the mix for his services. Metcalfe says he likes Vanderbilt (no offer) and Clemson (not sure of offer) best at this point. Metcalfe said he was thinking of visiting Clemson and Davidson.

"I want to be able to play right away and get pushed to play at the highest level [in Europe]," Metcalfe said.

"I don't want a major huge school. I'm looking at good academics and class size is important."

At the highest level, Metcalfe is a reserve player. He's not a particularly big scorer for Notre Dame. However, he does have the size that programs covet. Still needing polish at the offensive end he's got a body that can absorb contact.
