Butler Makes His Choice

The Temple Owls received some great news on Thursday night. Keith Butler is going to stay in Philly and play for the Owls next season.

Butler Picks Temple

First, the bad news. Temple dropped its opener Thursday night to Florida.

But, the good news is that the Owls received an important phone call Thursday evening from Celestial Prep center Keith Butler.

"He called coach Chaney last night and officially committed," Prep coach Darryl Schoefield said. "He said that he wanted to go to Temple." Cincinnati, Illinois and to an extent, Miami-FL were the finalists.

Butler's addition is a big one for the Owls. Next season, they'll lost center Kevin Lyde and his offensive and rebounding production. Though Butler won't enter Temple with the same skill set offensively that Lyde possesses, he does bring a presence in the paint as a defender and shot blocker.
