Elon, Radford, Siena Get Commitments

Siena, Radford and Elon recently accepted commitments. Siena's latest addition will have to spend a year at prep school before joining the Saints.

Siena, Elon Gain Commitments

Broadalbin (NY) Broadalbin-Perth senior shooting guard Michael Beers committed to Siena over the weekend. The 6-3, 185 pounder averaged 17 points and was an all-section selection last year. He played summer ball with the Albany City Rocks.

According to Beers, the plan for him is to join the Saints after spending the 2002-03 season in prep school. He has yet to decide where he will attend prep school next season. "They think it could never hurt to do that," Beers said. "For me personally, I think a year of that will help myself to get bigger and used to playing against that type of competition."

Beers had his eyes on Siena for quite some time. "I've really been wanting to go there. I was a little kid and that's where I wanted to go. One day, me and my dad went to a game and it kind of set the tone for me."

Rice Picks Elon

Scott Rice, a combo guard with the Panhandle Players, is headed to Elon.

Rice attends North Hagerstown (MD) High. The 6-3, 190 pounder joins power forward Rasmi Gamble in Mark Simons' recruiting class.

Prince Picks Radford

Chris Prince, a 6-7, 210 pound power forward from Oxon Hill (MD) High committed to Radford. He played last summer with the Oxon Hill Clippers. He averaged 16 points, 10 rebounds and 2 blocks during the summer.
