Bobby Frasor, who is one of the most sought-after players in the Midwest, is the biggest name of the group – but this team isn't about individuals and that's what makes them so successful.
The 6-3, 180-pound Frasor, who put up modest numbers at Brother Rice High (Ill.) this past season, already has fielded scholarship offers from Stanford, Notre Dame, Marquette and Depaul. He'll play alongside a pair of other backcourt guys in a three-guard lineup for the Wolves – Downers Grove South's 6-1 junior floor leader Bryan Mullins and 6-4 sharpshooter Sead Odzic.
Mullins is a prototypical floor general who controls the tempo and looks for his teammates before himself while Odzic has established himself as one of the top shooters in the class.
``The majority of the guys have played together for a while," Wolves coach Mike Mullins said. "We've really never tried to be an all-star team. We just tried to be a basketball team and told them if they did well as a team, it would help them all as individuals."
``These guys are really good individually, but they don't always get credit because they're suburban kids," added Mullins. "They are some of the best players in the country." Up front it'll be 6-8, 215-pound Gordon Tech junior Mike Davis and 6-5, 220-pound bruiser Scott Smith.
``We've got a big target on our back, but we just need to come out like we did last season," Davis said. "We have such good perimeter players, a great trio of guards. No one can really stop them. They just control the game so well. My job is just to do the little things like rebound and block shots."
These guys will also have some depth with 6-6 sophomore Peter Flowers and 6-2 combo guard Mason Stewart, who averaged 20 points per game this past season as a junior.
``We play a lot of different styles and we're pretty confident our kids will bring it every game," Mullins said. "They always have."
