Former Miami Christian (Fla.) 6-4 guard Jesus Verdejo, who spent this season at Winchendon (Mass.), committed to Arizona on Tuesday during an official visit to Tucson.
``He had a fantastic time out there and he really impressed the players," former Miami Christian coach Art Alvarez said. "The guys couldn't believe how good he was."
Verdejo may not have the athleticism of current Wildcats such as Andre Iguodala and Hassan Adams, but what he does add is a quality shooter who brings toughness to the team - a dimension sorely lacking with this season's disappointing Arizona club.
``Jesus can play at any level - and he's not a typical high school inexperienced kid," Alvarez added. "He plays 100 games a year and is the starting two-guard on the Puerto Rican Junior National team."
