Rick Nelson, who parted ways with John Eurey and started up the Reebok-affiliated organization, boasts a trio of high-major juniors: the Gulf Shores duo of Javon Adams and Gerald Green as well as Puerto Rican native Ricky Sanchez, who will be enrolling at a Houston-area high school for his final high school campaign.
Adams is a 6-1, 180-pound combo guard while Green is a long, 6-8, 195-pound swingman who can really knock down the perimeter jumper. Sanchez is intriguing because he is 6-11 and has guard skills.
``Javon is so good," Green said of his teammate. "He doesn't really get to shoot the ball that much because he gets people involved. He can take people one-on-one or shoot from the outside, but he always gets people involved before he shoots. He'll sit there for a while and then finally shoot. He's just so unselfish and makes everyone around him better."
Look for versatile Bellaire High sophomore Dale Van Wright to emerge on the national scene. The final starting spot will likely go to 6-7 ½ Gulf Shores senior power forward/center Anthony Vareen, a lefty who can step out who is headed to prep school next year.
The bench features a group of guys that really aren't well-known outside of Houston: junior point guard Terrell Henry, freshman big man Albert Turley and a pair of sophomores – 6-7 power forward Keith Denson and 6-1 wing Jonathan Fraizer.
``We have the potential to be pretty good," Nelson said. "Maybe one of the top 10 teams in the country if they learn to play together."
