2005 Focus: Shaun Green

Shaun Green, yet another member of the talented Utah class of 2005, has offers from Mountain West and Big West schools...

Shaun Green, 6-8 JR PF Salt Lake City (Utah) Olympus, told us yesterday that he's been hearing from Gonzaga, Utah, San Diego State, New Mexico and Utah State, among others.

Green told us that New Mexico and Utah State have both offered at this point.

Asked which school seems to be showing the most interest, Green said, "probably New Mexico."

Green has visited New Mexico unofficially. "It was fun," said Green. "A new experience."

We questioned Green about the issues he's considering in choosing a school. "I'd like to stay in the west," said Green. "My relationship with the coaching staff and playing time -- I don't want to go someplace with a guy right in front of me from the previous year."

Green told us that New Mexico, Utah and Utah State have all been out to see him practice at his school. He said Gonzaga attended a game recently at the state tournament.

Look for Green to make his decision after the summer. "Sometime before my senior year," said Green. "But not before the summer."

Green told us that he has a 3.1 GPA and he's waiting on the results from recent SAT and ACT tests.
