Fendi Onobun Pulls Trigger

It didn't take long for Fendi Onobun to make a decision. After a visit from a Hall of Fame coach, the Houston junior pulled the trigger.

Fendi Onobun, a 6-6 1/2, 225-pound junior at Alief Taylor (Houston, Texas), committed to Arizona.

Onobun met with Wildcats head coach Lute Olson and assistant coach Josh Pastner on Wednesday afternoon and pulled the trigger despite interest from UCLA and Stanford.

``He's always looked up to Jawaan McClellan and with him there and a Hall of Fame coach in Lute Olson, it was a no-brainer," said Hal Pastner of the Houston Hoops.

Onobun is a strong, versatile and athletic player who will still need to improve his ballhandling skills in order to play the small forward spot in college. Right now he's more of an undersized four-man who is working on his perimeter skills.

``He's a straight A student and a high-level player," added Hal Pastner. "When the summer's over, people are going to realize how good he is. He's a terrific athlete and a great rebounder." Onobun, who averaged 14 points per game for the second straight season in high school, becomes Arizona's first commitment from the junior class.
