Traveling Team: Southern Cal All-Stars

Every year the Southern Cal All-Stars boast plenty of talent - and this one is no different. With rising seniors like Bryan Harvey and Marcus Johnson - as well as rising sophomores Taylor King and JayDee Luster, they'll compete with just about anyone.

The Southern Cal All-Stars have a combo of experience and youth. The scary part of that its freshman duo could just be the two best players on the team.

That's not to take anything away from wings Bryan Harvey and Marcus Johnson, a pair of high-major juniors who are among the state's elite.

However, both Taylor King, who has already committed to UCLA, and JayDee Luster, are special. King is a versatile 6-6 freshman who put up impressive numbers as a freshman at Mater Dei. Luster, despite his small stature, is one of the top floor leaders in the nation.

``He's light years ahead of kids his age," SCA coach Ollie Goulston said. "He'll get everybody involved. He may not score much this year because he's such a winner, but he'll do so many things to make the team better."

Johnson is a terrific athlete with an improved perimeter game and he'll be joined by 6-8 senior Lowell Grissom, who will head to prep school next year, along the frontline.

Coming off the bench will be two-sport star Chase Budinger, a 6-6 sophomore who is one of the top volleyball players in the state, and 6-foot junior Joey Knox.

``We're not a dominating team, but I think we've got the right parts," added Goulston. "Everyone can play and everyone brings something to the table. But I think JayDee's glue will be the key. He keeps everyone happy."
