Weekend Recap

Boo Williams may have gotten the most attention of any tournament this past weekend, but there were a handful of other tournaments - and we'll take you for a quick run around the nation to find out what happened.

While Boo Williams was the premiere event this past weekend, college coaches weren't allowed to attend – so they scattered around the country in Houston, Las Vegas and D.C.

Belmont Shore returned from Vegas with the Easter Classic crown after a 75-72 win over the Utah Vipers in the title game. Hard-working junior forward Jamal Boykin scored 28 points and grabbed 13 boards in the championship and junior guard Seketoure Henry added 15. James Shoff led Utah with 15 points.

The No. 5 Houston Hoops were upset by the Arizona Cagers in the quarterfinals.

The Texas Blue Chips took home the title at the Reebok Pearland Classic after a 55-35 win against the Dallas Mustangs in the championship game. New Mexico native Harvey Hale led the Blue Chips with 16, including knocking down all 10 of his free throws, while Damion James added 12 and Longview High senior Raymond Hicks chipped in with 10.

Byron Eaton finished with 13 for the Mustangs despite playing on an injured ankle and Gary Flowers had 14 points. The Mustangs were without Booker Woodfox, who was also hurt.

James and Hicks and were joined on the all-tournament team by Flowers and Austin Jackson of the Mustangs – and Houston Elite's Gerald Green.

At the nearby Texas Classic, it was the New Orleans Jazz that claimed the title with a 67-62 victory against Houston Select. Sophomore point guard D.J. Augustine, James Parlow and Ken Cooper all earned all-tournament honors from the Jazz. Houston Select's Henry Dugat and C.J. Clark also made the all-tourney squad.
