The Decision Could be Today

The 7-foot senior, Robert Rothbart, probably the best qualified senior left in the west, talked about when he believes he'll announce his decision, and the fact that it's down to two schools left in the running...

Robert Rothbart, 7-0 SR PF, Sacramento (Calif.) Natomas, said he could have an announcement as soon as today.

"I haen't quite made a decision, but I think it will be Thursday," Rothbart said.

It's down to two school for the skilled 7-footer. "It's Indiana or UCLA," he said. "I've been back and forth. It's been Indiana. It's been UCLA. But tonight (Wednesday night) I'm going to sit down with my mom and give it some more thought and hopefully have a decision for Thursday."

Rothbart said that Arizona has been eliminated. "I don't think there's a scholarship available anymore. I've also been more satisfied with Indiana and UCLA for a while."

The head coaches from both schools went about the first day of the signing period, a day where there is no limit on telephone calls, in a similar way. "I talked with both coaches, Coach (Ben) Howland and Coach (Mike) Davis. And then they had the National Letters of Intent faxed to me. So, I'm ready, I just am uncertain right now which one I'm going to sign."
