2005 Focus: Alex Okafor

Alex Okafor first caught our attention at last summer's West Coast All-Star Camp. We spoke with the 6-3 junior wing about his recruitment to date...

We spoke with Alex Okafor, 6-3 JR SG San Jose (Calif.) Archbishop Mitty, a while ago and he gave us a list of the schools that have expressed interest in him.

"Santa Clara, San Jose State, Pepperdine, UC Santa Barbara, San Diego, San Diego State, Yale, Valparaiso, USF, Pacific and Stanford," said Okafor.

Okafor told us that he's wide open at this time. He listed a good environment, good coaching and strong academics as important factors in his decision. He also told us that he has no geographical preference.

Okafor hasn't been on any official visits yet, but he has spent some time at one local school. "I've been to Santa Clara games," said Okafor.

We asked if he thought he'd make a quick decision and Okafor replied, "I want to wait and take my time."

Okafor told us that he has a 3.7 GPA and he'll take the SAT in May.
