Padgett Asks For Release

David Padgett is transferring from Kansas. The word broke late Thursday afternoon that the 6-10 freshman will be looking for a new home.

David Padgett, a 6-10 freshman forward and McDonald's All-American in 2003, has asked for his release and will transfer from Kansas, a source confirmed Thursday afternoon.

Padgett averaged 6.5 points and 4.4 rebounds as a freshman this season under head coach Bill Self. Rumors swirled a few weeks ago about a transfer but ultimately died down before resurfacing this week.

Padgett's final list during his recruitment out of high school read Kansas, Arizona, Stanford and North Carolina. At the time, KU was coached by Roy Williams and Matt Doherty was at UNC.
