Witherspoon Trying To Qualify

Wynton Witherspoon is trying to play beat the clock. The senior wing out of Berkmar (GA) High is in an all out blitz to make it academically.

Norman Parker, the traveling team coach of the Georgia Stars, feels strongly that current senior, 6-6 wing Wynton Witherspoon, is going to qualify.

"He's got a 990 test score," Parker said. "He's trying to get the grade point average. I think he can do it."

If Witherspoon does indeed make it, there should be a host of suitors waiting. Teams like Georgia and Virginia Tech would need some relief with the "5/8 Rule" in order to take him. Boston College, St. Joseph's and Kansas State have expressed interest."

"Wynton can play the perimeter," Parker said. "He's not a power forward. What's good about him is that he's multi-positional and can play three positions. He can play the 1, 2 or 3."
