Zeller Stays in Midwest

Luke Zeller opted to concentrate on taking visits and working on his individual skills rather than hitting the circuit this spring. Well, he's obviously made plenty of progress after a couple of official visits because his recruitment is over.

Luke Zeller wasted little time after trimming his list to five.

According to sources close to the situation, the Washington High (Ind.) 6-11, 225-pound junior power forward has committed to Notre Dame, following an official visit to the school this past weekend.

Zeller is expected to make the announcement this afternoon at 1 p.m. at a news conference.

"Everything was equal but it was a gut feeling [in favor of Notre Dame]," the source said.

Zeller, who averaged 19.8 points, 9.4 boards and 2.5 blocks this past season, chose the Irish over Illinois, Missouri, Kansas and Stanford.

Zeller, a skilled and aggressive rebounder and shot-blocker who still needs to put on weight before he gets to South Bend, also visited Illinois officially earlier this month. Zeller has opted to bypass most of the AAU circuit this spring and summer in favor of individual workouts

Zeller took an official trip to Notre Dame along with Germantown Academy (Pa.) swingman Ryan Ayers. He is second junior to commit to the Irish, joining 6-7 Zach Hillesland of Toledo St. John's.
