Ralph Mims Headed Home

Ralph Mims always wanted to go back home - and now he'll get his wish. After getting the test score, the Florida native and Maine high school star saw his dream come true.

Ralph Mims, a 6-2 1/2, 195-pound unsigned senior at Brunswick High (Maine), signed with Florida State shortly after achieving a qualifying test score.

Mims is a strong combo guard who is expected to play primarily the point in Tallahassee. He is able to knock down the perimeter shot and is also strong enough to finish. He'll still need to work on his decision-making and the ability to make his teammates better. ``He's excited," Brunswick coach Todd Hanson said. "He's always had it in his mind that he'd like to go down there."

Mims, who hails from Pensacola, Fla., has always wanted to attend FSU.

``He's ecstatic," added Hanson. "This will not only give him a chance to go back to Florida, but he can play at the highest level and be challenged every night."

Mims also considered Providence.

``It came down to him wanting to be close to home," Hanson said. "His family is going to move back down there as well."
