Robinson To Walk On At UCLA

DeAndre Robinson, the #8 ranked shooting guard in the west for 2004, has decided to walk on at UCLA...

DeAndre Robinson, 6-5 SR SG Riverside (Calif.) King, had several scholarship offers this year, from schools in conferences like the WCC, Mountain West and Ivy League.

But the #8 ranked shooting guard in the west decided that following his dream was more important than getting a scholarship.

"It's always been my dream to go to UCLA," said Robinson. "Not only because of the basketball, but also the academics. So I'm going to walk on there and try to earn a scholarship."

Robinson had scholarship offers from several schools, including Wyoming, Yale and Santa Clara. "Stanford was showing some interest," said Robinson. "And lately I had been hearing from Baylor."

We asked Robinson what the UCLA coaches have told him.

"They said they want me to develop, maybe redshirt a year, get bigger and stronger, and hopefully earn a scholarship," said Robinson.

A very good student, Robinson previously told us he had a 4.1 GPA.
