Red Raiders Strong In Louisiana

The Texas Tech Red Raiders, with the recent commitment of Terry Martin, now own four commitments from the Class of 2005. For the third year in a row, Louisiana yielded a prospect to Coach Knight.

Jay Jackson started it. Martin Zeno was next and Terry Martin made in a row for the Red Raiders. The state of Louisiana has been very good to Texas Tech.

Last week, potential Top 100 prospect Terry Martin, a shooting guard out of Richwood High in Monroe, La., committed to Bobby Knight's program.

"The other schools just knew that I was a good player but Bobby Knight explained my game to me and told me how I could use my game to help him win," Martin said of The General.

Miami, Texas, Baylor and Oklahoma showed interest in Martin. He'll join a 2005 recruiting class that already is four deep. The first commitment came during the freshman season of swingman Justin Wilkerson (6-7, Greenville, Tex.). Wilkerson was quickly followed by brothers Kendrick and Calvin Johnson of Morton (Tex.) High.

The Red Raiders potentially have 6 scholarships to roll out for the Class of 2005, but they might not use them all.

Back to Louisiana. Jackson was a star for the Red Raiders this year. Zeno, another Louisiana product, was the 5-A player of the year last season and Martin makes it three from the same state in as many years for Knight.
