Interest Mounts In Green

Gulf Shores Academy wing Gerald Green is heating up as a prospect. The 6-8 Green says that there are plenty of schools that are interested.

Gerald Green, a 6-8 wing out of Houston (TX) Gulf Shores Academy, has plenty of recruiting momentum. His perimeter skills, combined with his size have some high-major schools actively getting involved in his recruitment. In our latest 2005 rankings, Green debuted at No. 53.

So far, this spring has been fruitful for Green. "It's going pretty good," Green said. "I think I've been playing pretty good. Some games I've slacked off in and not played to the best of my ability. I don't think there's been a game where I have played really bad so I'm thankful for that."

Green stated that he thought Kansas, Oklahoma State, Oklahoma, Michigan, Virginia, Texas A&M, Arizona State, Arizona and North Carolina State were recruiting him pretty hard.

In recent weeks, Green says that head coaches are turning up the heat in terms of how involved they are getting in his recruitment. "The only one that came to see me was the Oklahoma head coach. A lot of them didn't see me play. They had heard about me and sent me letters saying they're recruiting me. Now, the head coaches are calling me and saying they'll give me a scholarship."

On June 5, Green will take the SAT so official visits are pretty much out of the question until the fall. He'd like to have a Top 5 or 10 by the time Reebok ABCD camp rolls around and said an August decision is a possibility.
