``I felt comfortable with the academics and with the coaching staff," said Konate, who is still getting back to full strength after a stress fracture in his left leg.
Konate also considered East Carolina, Toledo, Niagara and Winthrop. He took visits to all five of those schools and also fielded a scholarship offer from George Washington, but Karl Hobbs and his staff didn't wait for Konate to make a decision.
Konate, who hails from Mali, is an athletic forward who is active on both ends of the court - but needs to work on his outside shot. He'll join a strong BU class that includes local standouts Ben Coblyn (6-8), Tony Gaffney (6-7) and Matt Wolff (6-5) as well as St. Francis Prep (N.Y.) 5-10 guard Brian Geffen. The Terriers also added former Notre Dame big man Omari Peterkin.
