It wasn't easy to keep track of Benn a year ago, but the former Cardinal Dougherty (Pa.) swingman, who left the school in January after accumulating too many demerits, landed at Cherokee High (N.J.).
Benn, who signed with Siena, didn't qualify academically and is hoping to attend Hargrave Military Academy (Va.) in the fall.
``I'm sticking with Siena," said the 6-5, 200-pound Benn. "They want me and that's where I want to play."
Benn averaged 14 points per game before leaving Cardinal Dougherty. He sat out six weeks in January at Cherokee due to transfer rules before averaging 17 points in a pair of playoff games.
``I know I need to work on everything," he added. "I want to be good at everything."
Benn will play this weekend at the Tournament of Champions with Philly MJC with a completely different attitude that he showcased for past of last summer.
``I stopped playing for a while last summer and just stayed in the house for two weeks after I didn't get invited to ABCD camp," added Benn, who said he received an invite to the adidas Superstar camp this summer. "I thought I had earned the invitation to ABCD after I was MVP of the all-city classic and made the all-tournament team at the Tournament of Champions and Charlie Weber."
``I finally realized that it would have been a waste for me to give up," Benn said. "I've come too far and want to prove people wrong."
