Devezin Taking His Time

David Devezin checks in at No. 68 in our summer Top 100. The Sugarland (TX) Clements product is starting to feel the heat from a number of high-majors.

He's not big, but he's tough and knows how to lead a team. That's why some fine high-major programs are making 5-foot-11 David Devezin out of Clements, a target in 2005.

Though he's not about to rush into anything, the 21-point per game scorer as a junior is starting to understand who the contenders are for his services. "Right now, I'm open to anybody," Devezin said. "I'm just going to wait and see who I liked the best at the end of the summer."

There's little doubt that Devezin will have options. Right now, Oklahoma State, UNLV, Florida State and Miami, according to the point guard, are recruiting him the hardest.

Devezin doesn't have any visits planned as school winds down, but he did visit Oklahoma State officially already last March.

"The visit went well. I went to one of their games and saw what the crowd was like. It was crazy. They played against A&M.

"I like the way they play. I saw them on TV a few times and I know Coach Sutton is a good coach. I wanted to see what it was like."

For Devezin, playing time will be a key issue. He'll seek an opportunity where he can play solid minutes early in his career.
