Cameron Headed To Knoxville

For Joey Cameron, the second time around was much easier. On Saturday, Cameron made a verbal commitment to an SEC program.

First it was the ACC but in the end, the SEC won out. On Saturday afternoon in New Orleans, Tennessee Travelers 6-foot-9 power forward Joey Cameron committed to the Tennessee Volunteers during a traveling team event.

"It was a whole lot easier the second time around," Cameron said via telephone. "The first time I rushed it and didn't know what I wanted."

The Leeds (Ala.) High product initially committed to Clemson before publicly withdrawing his verbal pledge. Cameron ranked No. 40 in our most recent Top 100.

"I've been able to spend time in Knoxville and I got a chance to meet the staff. I want to play in the SEC and I can push [Tennessee] over the edge.

"I think I'm their No. 1 recruit."

Now that he's a Volunteer, Cameron said he'd love to see Tyler Smith, Jamont Gordon and Jarvis Hill join him in wearing the orange and white.
