Jonathan Kale Commits to Big East

Jonathan Kale didn't waste a lot of time before making his decision. Not only was it quick, but it was also close to his current home.

Providence didn't have to look far in their latest commitment, rising St. Andrews (R.I.) senior big man Jonathan Kale.

The 6-7 ½, 245-pound Kale, who plays with BABC in the spring and summer, averaged 16 points and 11 boards as a junior for a team that finished 25-7.

``I think Providence got a huge steal," St. Andrews coach Mike Hart. "He's a sleeper. His work ethic is phenomenal. I haven't seen a kid improve this much in a short period of time in the 10 years I've been here."

Kale is the first player from St. Andrews to commit to Providence.

``I can't say enough positives about him," Hart said. "He's much more mobile than he was when he first got here."

Kale, who will attend ABCD in July, is a rugged inside player who does a lot of the dirty work and understands his role. He rarely takes ill-advised shots, controls the boards and has a nice jump hook.
