Huskies Land Two Garfield Players

The Washington Huskies continued to mine talent from Seattle's Garfield High. Brandon Roy, one of the 50 best players in the nation, signed his letter of intent to play for Bob Bender.

Another Garfield Standout Picks UW

What do Will Conroy, Anthony Washington and Brandon Roy have in common? Answer: they each played high school ball at Garfield in Seattle and now will be collegians at Washington and play for the Huskies.

Last week, Bob Bender received a letter of intent from power forward Anthony Washington who signed last year but didn't qualify. He also received a letter from Brandon Roy, a Top 50 player.

Roy selected the Huskies over Pac-10 interest and Gonzaga. He's a scorer first and foremost and played through pain in the summer despite having to go under the knife for knee surgery in August.

He could be an impact addition for Bender's program.
