Perry Will Play In Big Ten

Proviso East has been a basketball factory for guards lately having churned out Big Ten standouts Dee Brown and Shannon Brown. East's latest guard, senior Phillip Perry, will also play in the league with his former teammates.

Over the weekend, Proviso East senior combo guard Phillip Perry committed to the Wisconsin Badgers. The 6-foot-2 Perry, an Illinois native, averaged 21 points a game last season as a junior.

He had heard from the likes of DePaul, Wake Forest, Miami, Nebraska, Seton Hall and a number of other programs. However, he visited Wisconsin in early May and fell for the situation.

"They really got to know me on a personal level," Perry said. "They got to know me as a person and not someone who just plays basketball. That really makes me feel at home."

The Illinois Warriors traveling team standout will play multiple guard – including the point – and wing slots for the Badgers and his versatility was attractive. Perry is fast and strong with the basketball. He'll need to get consistent with his jumper and continue to improve his decision making. This is a high-major caliber guard with a strong upside.

"I really like their offense because I kind of picture myself as kind of like Devin Harris. I think I'm a combo guard. Wherever they put me at, I'll play."
