Currently, McCauley's list includes the Pack, Virginia, Cincinnati, UCLA, Pittsburgh and Xavier. Stanford, Ohio State and Villanova, once prominent on his list, are not likely to make it through the next round of cuts.
McCauley's recruitment doesn't appear to be on the verge of ending anytime soon either. "I think I'll take some officials in the fall and try to decide before my senior year [of basketball]," McCauley said.
"Some kids decide early and might not look throughout the whole nation," McCauley said. "They might not have all the information they need."
McCauley, meanwhile, is gathering all kinds of information. He's been on unofficial visits to each school on his primary list except for UCLA. The Bruins are very likely to receive an official visit from him in the fall.
In the camp game we watched, McCauley strung together a 22-point effort that included an 18-point second half. Most schools are recruiting the big fella for his ability to play facing the basket. His perimeter scoring skills are more advanced than his back-to-the-basket game at this point. He'll make 3s, begin the break and generally plays the game with a high degree of skill.
