Shaw Still Wide Open

We spoke with Joey Shaw, 6-6 SR SG Chandler (Ariz.) High, over the weekend at the San Diego team camp.

One of the best shooters in the west, Shaw is an elite wing prospect who may end up playing at the two or three. Due to his slight build, he might project as more of a shooting guard.

Asked which programs he's been hearing from, Shaw said, "USC, Washington, Oklahoma, San Diego, San Diego State, Miami and Marquette."

Shaw said he doesn't have a leader at this time. When we asked if there are any schools he's pretty sure he'll visit, Shaw replied, "Probably USC -- they offered me."

Look for Shaw to begin trimming his list in July. "After the ABCD camp, I'll probably cut down my list," Shaw said.

Shaw, who told us he has a 3.3 GPA, is waiting on his SAT results.

A fall decision appears likely for Shaw. "I think I'll decide in October or November," said Shaw.
