Korvotney Barber on Shelf

Korvotney Barber's time on the circuit may have been short-lived. The Manchester High (Ga.) power forward is likely on the shelf for the rest of the summer with a broken bone in his hand.

In all likelihood, Korvotney Barber's summer is over.

The ultra-aggressive 6-7 1/2, 220-pound senior power forward at Manchester High (Ga.) broke a bone in his left hand and will likely miss the remainder of the summer.

``It happened at NBA Camp and I couldn't play the last three games," Barber said. "I fell back and tried to catch myself. I thought it was just jammed."

Barber has a splint on his hand and the doctor said he'll have to wear it for the next six weeks. There's a chance he could return in time for the AAU Nationals in late July, but he definitely won't play at ABCD Camp in less than two weeks.

``They told me not to play, so I'm not going to take any chances."

Barber was able to accomplish enough in a short time with the Smyrna Stars on the circuit that he has his pick out of Georgia Tech, Georgia, Auburn and Tennessee. Florida is also in the mix.

Barber has taken unofficials to Georgia Tech, Georgia and Auburn and, according to sources, he'll choose from one of those three.

``I don't have a leader yet," he said. ``I was hoping to make a commitment by the end of July, but that may be too early."
