Bell's Recruitment Heating Up

D'Andre Bell, one of the more underrated wings in the country, has several big-time programs showing him serious interest...

D'Andre Bell, a 6-4 rising senior small forward from Los Angeles (Calif.) Palisades, doesn't show up on many top 100 lists nationally, but college coaches certainly know about him.

We spoke with Bell yesterday and asked him about schools that have called him in the last week.

"Georgetown, Florida, USC, Michigan State, UCLA, Gonzaga, Arizona, Oregon State, Washington State, Washington...a few others," said Bell.

We asked if any schools stand out at this point and Bell replied, "I haven't really narrowed it down to a firm list yet -- I want to do that after the summer. But, just logically, Arizona, Michigan State, UCLA, Florida and Washington would all probably be on my list."

Bell has a specific list of factors he's looking for in a school.

"The first thing is the coaching -- I want to go someplace where the coach will make me better," said Bell. "Then, obviously, the education. And also someplace where there is an opportunity to play. I know I have to work to earn my time, but I want someplace where the opportunity is there."

We asked if location is an issue in his decision and Bell replied, "No, I'll go anywhere that has the other three things I talked about. East, West -- it doesn't matter."

A solid student, Bell said his GPA is around 3.0 and he recently scored 1070 on the SAT. He said he plans on taking the test again.
