Goodridge Sets Record Straight

Vernon Goodridge wants to make sure he sets the record straight. Despite recent reports, he has not committed anywhere - at least not yet.

There is no truth to all the speculation that Vernon Goodridge has already committed to Mississippi State.

According to a published report, the 6-9 athletic big man from Philadelphia Lutheran (Pa.) is already all but committed to Rick Stansbury's program. However, this is not the case.

``It wasn't even close to happening," Goodridge said. "I think someone put that out there."

Goodridge, who plans to return to play for coach Darryl Schoefield at Lutheran this season, is planning to take an unofficial visit to Seton Hall in the next 10 days. He has Mississippi State and Seton Hall among his top five schools, which also includes UConn, Georgetown and Pittsburgh.

Goodridge has already taken unofficial visits to UConn, Georgetown and Villanova.

``I'm looking for somewhere that fits my style of play," said Goodridge, a big-time shot-blocker who runs the court extremely well. "and has a good coaching staff. Everything has worked out well for me and I couldn't have imaged all of this a year ago." ``I'm planning on taking my official visits and then making a decision," he added.
