Reynolds Makes His Decision

Sept. 11 was supposed to be the day Roanoke (VA) Catholic guard JR Reynolds announced his college decision. On Wednesday, the junior made clear his intentions to play in the ACC in the fall of 2003.

Virginia Finally Lands Reynolds

Believe it or not, but commitments from members of the Class of 2003 are starting to trickle in. On Wednesday, the first commitment to an Atlantic Coast Conference school was recorded.

Roanoke Catholic combo guard JR Reynolds committed to the University of Virginia. In doing so, Reynolds became the 8th overall member from the Class of 2003 to pledge his allegiance to a program.

At one point, it was rumored that Reynolds would commit to the Cavaliers shortly after the July Nike Camp. Virginia watched him attentively throughout the summer; especially given the fact the Cavs only had one scholarship to give to a member of the current class. That freedom allowed Pete Gillen's bunch to get a lot of work done early with Reynolds.

So, what kind of player is Virginia getting? Well, he's a scorer who played real well at Nike Camp. He made a ton of 3s at camp but also connected on a bevy of mid-range jumpers. From previous conversations with Reynolds, he expects to fulfill a role for the Cavs at both guard positions. Though we haven't come out with 2003 rankings, Reynolds would open up as a Top 50 recruit.
