Costner Hopes To Be At Three Soon

After July, Brandon Costner needed a break. He packed up and went to the shore with his boys from Jersey and took a few days off. Since then, the phone hasn't stopped ringing.

"It's been pretty crazy," Brandon Costner said. "I went away for about four days so I didn't have to deal with it. Then it got even crazier when I got back."

The 6-foot-7 power forward is the owner of possibly the most geographically diverse school list in the country. His current list of six spans both coasts, the Midwest and even dips into the South.

Comprising the six schools is North Carolina State, Connecticut, Seton Hall, Kansas, Georgia Tech and UCLA. The Bruins are the only school he's visited officially and that took place in the spring.

"I'm going to cut the list to three within the next two or three weeks," Costner said.

Costner feels like there's probably only a need to visit three schools though he's not sure of which three get trips. "I think [three trips is] enough for me to make my decision. I won't need to take anymore. I don't know [which I'll visit] but I have a pretty good idea."

The month of July was outstanding for Costner's national standing. After a spring in which he underachieved for a prospect of his stature, Costner turned it on when he needed it most. Instead of taking a role on the Playaz like he did in the spring, he began to assert himself in July.

"In the spring I tried to fit in with my team instead of forcing the action and being more aggressive. I saw that wasn't helping me so in the summer I started being more aggressive."

And it worked. We saw him get to the line 17 times in one game. Later in the month, Costner said that he had another game in which he shot 22 free throws. Those are impressive numbers for a guy who has the ability to play facing the basket.

"I enjoyed my AAU career, it was fun. No regrets."
