Brandon Smith Makes Decision

Brandon Smith wasn't all about the exposure this past summer, but the Patrick Henry (Minn.) senior wing got plenty of love - and made his decision on Monday.

Brandon Smith took a far different route than most rising seniors when he decided to maintain a light summer schedule in favor of individual workouts.

The 6-6, 200-pound Patrick Henry (Minn.) senior has no regrets after committing to in-state Minnesota on Monday.

``I chose Minnesota because it doesn't get any closer to home," said Smith, who has a 3.8 GPA. "I feel that I can come in as a freshman and get playing time."

``I also like the staff and my family wanted me to stay close to home," he added.

Smith, who chose Minnesota over Oklahoma and Marquette, said that he made the decision prior to the start of school to alleviate any pressure.

Smith, who played in a few tournaments with Team Minnesota this summer, is strong and is most effective when driving to the basket. He'll still need to work on knocking down the outside shot with more consistency.
