Meet Cem Dinc

The University of Buffalo is coming off an 18-win season and Bulls assistant coach Michael Mennenga has helped to establish a foreign pipeline that has included sophomore big man Yassin Idhibi and incoming freshman forward Christian Schmidt. <P>

Now you can add Cem Dinc (pronounced Gem Dench) to the list. The 6-10, 240-pound senior big man, who hails from Turkey, but has spent much of his childhood in Germany, is the latest addition to the Bulls.

Dinc committed to Buffalo at the end of June after taking an unofficial to the school in the spring.

Dinc, who will play at Brewster Academy (N.H.) this season, received a glowing report from Bulls guard Roderick Middleton after playing the team in the spring.

``He told me he's extremely athletic, can handle it well for a big kid and is a typical European," Brewster coach Jason Smith said. "He's a high-post power forward who is lean, strong and every bit of 6-10."

According to others who have seen Dinc play, he's an aggressive rebounder who gets after it. He needs to work on his offensive game, but he could be a big-time get for Buffalo. Smith said that he was off-the-charts on his academic testing and comes to Brewster with a 3.7 GPA.

``He didn't get a single question wrong on the verbal part of the IQ testing," Smith said.

Dinc played on the same club team with Idhibi in Germany.
