Alonzo Gee to SEC

Alonzo Gee proved he was one of the elite scorers in the country this past summer - and now he's headed to the SEC.

Alonzo Gee was far from a household name entering the summer. That changed in a hurry.

The 6-6, 190-pound senior wing at Dwyer High (Fla.) committed to Alabama on Thursday, according to Dwyer coach Billy Palagonia. Gee chose the Crimson Tide over Maryland, Charlotte, Miami, Florida and Florida State.

``He does a lot and has so much ability," Palagonia said. "He can score off the dribble, can shoot the three and finish off rebounds with dunks. He's a big, strong kid and is only going to get better. He hasn't even scratched the surface."

Gee established himself as one of the elite scorers in the senior class in July. He split time between the Tallahassee Wildcats and South Florida Heat.

``He felt good about the people," Palagonia said. "Orlando (Early) has been recruiting him since the beginning of his junior year and he trusts Orlando."

Gee averaged 12.5 points per game last season, but had 35, 24 and 21 in the first three state playoff games. Dwyer beat Lake Howell to win the state title game.
