Kemp, Roy Both Signed

A couple of Seattle (WA) Garfield prospects, both of whom are outstanding talents, still have work to do in order to play Division I basketball next fall. Both young men, Marcellas Kemp and Brandon Roy, signed during the fall period.

Kemp, Roy May Need Juco

Washington signed swingman Brandon Roy during the fall. Roy, a Top 50 prospect, injured his knee last summer but still drew considerable recruiting attention.

With little fanfare, our sources claim that Nevada signed Roy's high school teammate Marcellas Kemp. Kemp also fared well last summer as a scorer and clutch player at the Big Time for Seattle Rotary.

Apparently, Kemp is presently not eligible to play and is looking for a January return to the hardwood. Garfield opens its season Tuesday night against Redmond.

Despite having signed Division I letters of intent, both Roy and Kemp are prime junior college prospects should they not make it academically. Reportedly, the College of Southern Idaho is investing considerable time and energy on the both of them. Apparently, new CSI head coach Guy Beach wants to make Roy the centerpiece of his first recruiting class.

CSI already has a player on its roster from Seattle. Tim Ellis, a talented swingman, is in his second season with the Golden Eagles.
