"I really feel comfortable with their guys and the coaches," Darnell said. "It was the best fit for me with location and academics and basketball."
Last season, while playing for his father at North Stafford, Darnell averaged 20 points and 10 rebounds. He was invited and participated in the Nike All-American Camp.
"I want to be able to come in right away and play and be a definite contributor to the team and turn things back around."
Being the son of a coach, Darnell should be equipped to handle college without much of a transition period. "I think it'll help me out a lot of because of the good and the bad parts. I know that since my dad's the coach he'll be on me but I also know that he knows a lot about the game and will do everything he can to make it at the next level."
