Minnoy Headed To Big Ten Country

Hales Franciscan wing standout Nate Minnoy is off the board. The strong wing is headed to the Big Ten.

Nate Minnoy, the heart and soul of the Illinois Fire, committed to Purdue this morning according to his AAU coach Mac Irvin.

"He said he was going to commit today," Irvin said. "He told me last night and he's probably done it already. He's going to Purdue."

The Boilermakers were among a host of schools Minnoy mentioned last week when we talked to him. However, Purdue offers the strong conference while giving him the ability to stay within striking distance of home.

"He wanted to stay close to the area and Purdue is close," Irvin said. "It's an excellent program and the Big Ten. I can understand.

"One thing that Nate does well is he hustles. He fights hard. At his size, I'd say he's a matchup problem at the 2-3 or wherever he plays. He's a strong kid and plays hard. Last year he wasn't shooting like he is this year. He shoots the 3, the pull up and he always could go to the basket.

Minnoy earned his reputation as a battler. Irvin's right as he did improve from the perimeter over the course of the summer. He's one of those guys who just consistently wears on you, gets his points in a variety of ways and at the end of the day he's filled the stat sheet.
