Best Doesn't Sign With EKU

Eastern Kentucky thought it had a nice signee in the fall. However, combo forward Tyler Best never signed his papers with the Ohio Valley Conference school.

Best Signature Yet To Come

Tyler Best, a standout at Lafayette (IN) Central Catholic committed to Eastern Kentucky last fall but did not sign scholarship papers Travis Ford's program.

"Everybody keeps reporting that he has signed," Ron Best, Tyler's father said. "I wanted to let everyone know that he hasn't signed. I think he was a little disappointed with the way he played last summer. He just felt like he signed too low and wants to go a little higher."

During the fall, Best was reportedly offered scholarships by Dayton, Tulane, Wichita State, Ball State, Bowling Green, Purdue and West Virginia. Schools had been pursuing him as a combination forward.

"Early on he had a lot of big schools on him and he kind of flopped in the summertime," Ron Best said. "He had a fractured hand and got burnt out. He's lost a few pounds and he's doing a lot better know."
