Marquez Haynes Ends Process

Marquez Haynes was worried about the distance of heading across the country, but after taking a visit a couple thousand miles away, the Texas guard realized it was the best place for him.

A conversation with Craig Smith was all that Marquez Haynes needed to pull the trigger and commit to Boston College.

The 6-2, 180-pound Haynes, who has transferred from Irving MacArthur to Irving High (Texas), chose the Eagles over Tulsa and TCU. He took an official visit to Boston College last weekend after visiting Tulsa the previous weekend.

``The difference was the feeling I got," Haynes said. "I just felt it was right. I wasn't sure how I'd feel because it was so far, but Craig Smith told me a lot of stuff and make me feel more comfortable."

``BC is a good academic school and it's a chance for him to play in the ACC," added his coach, Erven Davis of Dallas Pump-N-Run.

The versatile Haynes, who averaged 22 points as a junior, is a quality scorer who is primarily a shooting guard, but will likely also see some time at the point at BC. He's also a terrific student who received an 1180 on the SAT.
